Increasing The Opportunities For Women To Participate In Managing The Educational Process

Achievements:

  1. Forming local gender committees in the pilot districts (Amman II, Madaba, Kerak, Ajloun).

  2. Preparing a training manual on "Women in Management" after conducting training needs assessment of women in supervisory and administrative posts.

  3. Forming a focal team to train on gender, after a series of training workshops.

  4. Preparing a "Training of Trainers" manual which is used as a resource manual for training.

  5. Holding workshops at the Ministry Headquarters and pilot districts on "Women in Management" for gender awareness and its relationship to education and management, which covered around 200 trainees, consisting of supervisors, school principals, and heads of divisions at the Ministry Headquarters.

  6. Holding workshops on gender mainstreaming and management of change, and introducing skills- based and results- based job description.

  7. Holding periodic meetings with non-governmental organizations and universities to exchange views on the role of women and to change attitudes.

  8. Allotting one issue of the project's newsletter "New in Management" for the work of the committee.

  9. Holding an honouring celebration for women leaders, which was patronized by Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal, and in which the first woman who occupied every leadership post since the establishment of the Ministry was honoured.
